Celebrating Summer Solstice with a RUN!

On Saturday, June 22, 2024, runners from all over the Peace Country, and beyond, laced their shoes for a beautiful Summer Solstice Run!
We met runners from Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Grande Prairie, and beyond – all running in the Kids’ 3K, 5K, 10K, or half marathon. Runners and spectators of all ages and abilities came out to enjoy the hot, hot, hot weather and gorgeous morning.

With the music going, the Deep Physio team led our runners in stretches. Supporters cheered our runners on. There was an on-site registered massage therapist. Ashley Pannozzo, Community Engagement with Northern Health, shared information about the DCDH replacement project and handed out much needed cooling towels. Helioz Athletics displayed their amazing products. And Jamie Maxwell, with the Dawson Creek Triathalon group, provided our runners with the opportunity for another great community event!

As runners returned, Booster Juice smoothies were available for everyone at the event. And we had a lovely group of volunteers BBQing burgers. Thank you, Curtis York Trucking, for the BBQ, and LMV Energy Services for the BBQ supplies!

This event was a major success, and we would like to extend our deepest thanks to Deep Physio for choosing us as the beneficiaries this year. The Deep team executed a fantastic community event, and did a phenomenal job keeping the whole event running smoothly. We appreciate all the volunteers who put in time to ensure our runners had a safe and successful run. And much gratitude to all the community sponsors who donated – it was a fantastic community event that brought so many people together for a meaningful cause. We appreciate everyone!

And, lastly, we would like to thank, and congratulate, all the runners! It was a hot day, you all braved the heat and finished the your race with triumphant smiles! The Dawson Creek and District Hospital Foundation received $5,500 which we are VERY excited to put to great use towards our local health care!
